V.FC is the pre V.34 V.34. It is useless except to talk to "older" modems.
I don't know why hayes overcharges. Actually, several manufacturers offer a
"consumer" and a "professional" model. The more expensive model holds up
better, often has more bells and whistles, better warranty, etc. I know Hayes
offers two main lines of modems…
