I'm using (or trying to use) an Adaptec 1540B/42B SCSI controller with NEC 84. It would run OK (could do a directory of a loaded CD-ROM). If I tried to install 1-2-3 windows w/ multimedia help (from Program manager, File Run D:INSTALL) it would flash the drive light a few times and then give an insufficient memory error message. Using Grolliers I could access text for a seemingly unlimited time, but some images would cause an error. After either of these errors, if I tried a directory of D: I'd get the CDR-101 error message. Occasionally the system would hang. ASPI4DOS and ASWCDNEC are loaded as devices in my CONFIG.SYS. I don't have any documentation on ASWCDNEC, taht's something my reseller came up with. I couldn't get it to work. I also bought, in the box, an NEC 74 and NEC SCSI board. I installed that per NEC's instructions and it works fine (took out he ADAPTEC & NEC 84) Can you please give me some info on your configuration? Do you use ASWCDNEC? Do you have any info on the parameters used with this driver? Thanks.
