You bet it will cover Release 3. All the new features are covered. Its approach is hands on tutorial paired with information on Tips and Traps. The object is to get you as productive as soon as possible by letting you create a bunch of animations. And to help you help you avoid the most costly/ time consuming mistakes. Tutorials range from Interior Design Mechanical Design Accident Reconstruction/Forensics Special Effects Corporate Logos Contructing Architectural Models from Elevations Lighting & Materials workshops Video Post and Output to Video Visual Link DXF into Shaper/Lofter/3D Editor Network Rendering etc. The CD will have contacts for consulting purposed across the US (and in a few other countries like Austrailia and the UK – more if people send me their Resume's between now and monday (OPEN CALLS!)), and contact information for people who write curriculum for a living. Animations and models from Viewpoint and other developers are also included. I'll try to post a chapter overview in the next few days. I designed the book for people who need an introduction on how to use 3D Studio to complete projects – so each project is a start to finish animation, except the lighting and materials laboratories where you experiment with lighting and create materials hands-on so you can really get a handle on what, exactly, does what. The book is also tailored to serve as a reference manual – steps for applying materials or completing any operation can be applied to ANY project. The tutorials are good for classes (in fact many of the tutorials are based on exercises I do in my classes) and for self training. The CD is designed to give people resources, contacts and ideas that they might otherwise not take advantage of. And to show that that 3D Studio can be used for interactive educational media, forensics, architecture . . .
