Paul, Yes, my wife and I are going on an explorartory visit to Sydney at Thanksgiving (or Christmas depending on ticket availability). I have the application forms for immigration, too. This is not a new decision, it's been fermenting within me for about 20 years (lots of Brits want to move to Aus). Some of the long-time forum members may have remembered me making inquiries about 3ds opportunities in Australia 2 years ago. The proliferation of handguns in particular, in America are probably the main reason for my desire to move now. Followed by pollution and other lesser quality-of-life issues. In not against sports guns like rifles so much, being a marksman myself, though I'm not an owner of anything more than a bb gun. You have to remember that I grew up in England where handguns are practically non-existent and where the fear of getting shot ranked comparably with the fear of being killed by lightning. There's lots of fighting in England and I used to get in a lot, but you never worried that someone would shoot you if they felt like it. It's a totally different attitude and I just can't get comfortable with people's blase attitude about what I feel is an epdemic here. I don't expect anything to change and I don't have any solution, so my answer is just to try to move to a country which has a similar attitude to my own – but with much better weather <g>.
