# 3DSR3 on 386-25 4MB Ram
Hi All,
I have 2 problems…
(More really <g> but I just got 3D-Studio R2 and have some system questions)
First, I am running a 386/25 with 4MB RAM. It is very slow, but as I am just
learning 3DSR2 at this point I havent run into too many bottlenecks/failures.
After knocking out the tutorials and the refrence manuals I am planing some
easy to fairly complex modeling/animation/rendering projects. I would like to
get my system up to speed. Has anybody heard of, or used the Cyrix 486 upgrade
chip? Will it work? Is it a good idea? Also how much RAM should I get?
Now the 2nd part, After learning R2 I'd like to upgrade to R3. Should I wait
for R3 or learn R2 and then learn the new stuff in R3? Also I'm thinking of
getting a new system for R3. Can I MickeyMouse my 386 with a Cyrix and memory
for the short term or am I wasting time and money? What wold be the ideal
system for running R3 for a single user with about a $5,000. budget? I'd like
to be able to render and display true color images on my system?
Thanks, Steven Walters
