I think "real English" is more MartinF's territory <g>, but here goes: The Sony EVO-9650 is a Hi-8 format tape deck suitable for frame-by-frame animation (as opposed to a frame-accurate deck, a distinction I won't bother to get into here!) It has serial control, and can run with a software driver only, no hardware board required. We have a loaner in our office from Sony at the moment if you want to see/touch/feel one. 3DS3 comes with an ADI driver to run it, absolutely free (we should know, we wrote it! Gus strikes again, just when you least expect it!) Hi-8 is a less expensive format to start out with on frame-by-frame animation, and the quality is pretty good with the exception of drop-outs which have some people pulling their hair out on this forum!
