This won't help your current situation, but if you ship UPS COD
they allow you to select "cash only" as a payment option – meaning
they won't release the package except in exchange for real money.
This is how I ship (unless I know the person) and I've never had a
problem. I get a check from UPS for the cash amount, and they don't
bounce (at least, they haven't yet … 8^) ).
