As GregP so eloquently<g> put, Greg, I'm down here in San Diego's North County,
specifically the "charming" old Avacado/Grape town of Escondido, although I did
move here from New England in 1991. Just had to get away from that awful
weather and into a more progressive "climate" as well, considering I wanted to
be a full-time 3D-type person-:) C'mon down to the SoCal 3DS user's group
(third Sat. of the month…) and hang out with us (if you can) as I plan on
attending the next meeting — I'm pretty sure we're gonna do a r3-intensive
thing and it would be nice to meet you. You also can count on meeting forum
luminaries such as Martin Foster and maybe even Greg Pyros if he can make it
this month…
Interesting comments on the Mac's EI…I especially liked the bit about it
making poorly constructed models look good<g>. I'm always amazed at the way
Apple and third-party developers over-price their products. IMHO, it's quite a
slap-in-the-face to their loyal users. I *used* to be one, but when I saw the
inexpensive power and versatility of the PC platform I just couldn't resist!
The advent of 3DS was a huge help too, as I was saving for TOPAS at the time
3DSr1 was announced. An Autodesk fellow named Grant Blaha filled me in on what
was about to happen and it's been a *very* nice thing ever since. I've NEVER
seen software so thoughtfully concieved, developed, and maintained as GaryY and
company have done, and I'm VERY thankful for their efforts. 'Certainly have
helped me get start to bring my dreams to reality!
