Well Alan, I have the HC8 with the 4.13 ROM's, but I'm not sure yet if that makes it a 4008 controller. I left a message for Gary Nush of GVP to get a little clarification on this matter, so maybe he will jump in here to clarify things a little. Although the HC8 works much better than the 2091, it still seems like it should be faster than it is. I get about 750K/sec transfer rates on a 1.3GB SCSI-II drive. When the 4091 is installed, I get about 2.7MB/sec transfer rates. I'm beginning to believe that if I want any faster transfer rates out of the HC8 that I would have to add some 16-bit memory to the 4000, but I don't think I will do that unless I see no hope of getting this 4091 to work <g>. As far as Mapboard goes, I'm not sure if it would speed up anything or not. I haven't tried it yet for the HC8 so maybe when I have a chance I'll see if it works. Haven't added any more IDE drives to the 4000 because that 1.3GB SCSI-II Toshiba should hold me over for awhile <g>. Actually I wan't to stay away from IDE as much as possible. Once I get that 4091 to work, I plan on retiring the SeaGate IDE drive to my Vortex Bridgeboard. As to your SeaGate cold boot problems, maybe you have one of those SeaCrates that doesn't initialize fast enough before the controller goes out and polls it. SeaGate's have been notorious for this, and it wouldn't surprise me if your's is having that problem. There is a specific list of IDE drives compatable with the 4000 so you have to be careful. // John – (Flying via AutoPilot) \X/
