My MaxTor IDE performs very badly (slow) in my 4000, which is because of
my old motherboard rev. The system also doesn't mount the drive on
power-up (only after a warm boot). The drive (a Maxtor 7345A) works great
in newer 4000s.
Was speed and mounting the problems your customer is having?

PS- Any suggestions on how I can get Gold Service to fix my machine? I
can't get through.
