I would suggest you look at the Video Machine, from Fast Electronics. It and 3DStudio blow away the Toaster, and are comparable in cost (that is, once you spent the money for all the add-ons you need to make the toaster do editing — if you're not going to do video editing then the VM is more expensive by a few K than the Toaster). The VM will do the wipes and other DVEs you want — it also does the aforementioned editing (with two source VCRs, even at consumer level, and a record VCR), it has two built in TBCs and full frame buffers, does great frame grabbing and is Windows based (I consider this a plus). 3DStudio, as you can find out here, is simply the best 3D package around, in it's present R3 incarnation. Together I can't think of anything you'd need in life (except a nice looking blond).
