Quickpass is a utility developed by Diaquest that will significantly speed up single frame recording, and becuase of the way it works lengthen the life of the heads and transport mechanisms. It basically works by recording a sequence of frames (for instance: 1,19,39,59,79) on one pass, then rewinding all the way back and laying another sequence of frames (2,20,40,60,etc) untill the recording is finished. The numbers I gave you are completely incorrect, I don't know exactly what frames are recorded when, but it illustrates the method. This keeps the deck from having to pre-roll, forward, dub, roll past, pre-roll, etc… for every single frame. It will speed up the process several hundred percent in some cases, and has the extra benefit of sparing the deck a lot of wear and tear. There was some talk by Diaquest several months ago that Quickpass would not work on the Sanyo, but they may have straghtend that out.
