I agree. I've used Hi-8 (EVO-9650) for quite a bit of animation, all
on Pro-level 60-minute Hi-8 tapes, and I've experienced NO dropouts.
I think it makes a difference if you don't re-record over the same
area of the tape, and that you use the right tape.
I've read plenty of comments over the last year about Hi-8 and many opinions
and observations by several people who didn't appear to be using/have used the
format for animation work. Most seems to be word of mouth, non-published
specs, etc.
(watch this, now I'll have 15 drop-outs on my next animation! that'd be my
luck! <g>)
