Paul- Your point about dealer messaging is avery valid. I've encountered the same problems in the past on our local AutoCAD BBS <The Lens <did I mention that it's the largest acad bbs worldwide? <g>>>. Ahem, at any rate, we found that a reorganization of message area topics helped a lot. We set up a "For sale/Dealer" forum, and have kept all those messages together. Users who don't want to read those messages simply de-select those areas from thier Combined message areas. Getting a co-sysop who does nothing but police messages helped a bunch too. We just had too many message that, as you said, only answered questions by offering a <often costly> repair or product. Many problems can be handled with the sharing of knowledge and techniques.
