'need' is pretty subjective. If you're only going to output a flyer or
two a month, and plan on printing just a high quality original and
then having them copied (for cheep) at someplace like Kinkos, then
yes, a 300 DPI laser would suit the bill just fine as a proofing
device… the final output could then be done on a much higher
resolution printer by outputting to postscirpt and taking the file to
a service bureau for 1200 DPI lino or to Kinkos for 600 DPI laser
hardcopy.
