#Toaster Overuse
Just got a tape in from a client. He was not satisfied with the work
done on the tape by a local post house.
Took a look. The post house – proud owners of a Toaster – had pulled
out ALL the stops. Think they had used every EFX in their Toaster
4000. in a 20 minute tape. It was an eye bothering show. You were so
overwhelmed by the EFX that there was no room left to look and listen
to what the client was trying to get over.
Toaster EFX are excellent and add much to a production. However –
they should be used with discretion and finesse. Not smeared on with
a heavy spade. Must admit I learned a lot about what NOT to do in
seeing that tape.
