if I had to rotoscope a scene, I would genlock my Amiga display over the scene and draw "over" the image. You may have to account for some offset between Imagine's full-screen preview (when the Perspective window is clicked to full-screen) and the underlying video, due to menu bars and the like; your preview might not match the final render perfectly. But once you learn to compensate by mentally composing your Imagine scene 10 pixels below the video image for example, you could successfully rotoscope anything you wanted. Another possibility, as Mike mantioned, would be to use a 24-bit board, such as the Firecracker24, which overlays the Amiga display onto the 24-bit display. You can then capture a video frame and show it onto the board, then flip your Amiga display over to the Imagine screen and rotoscope away. The advantage with this method is that you could use an image processing program like Imagemaster to resize and reposition the 24-bit frame to match the offset created by the imperfect Perspective preview. You could even assign it to a function key through a simple ARexx script, making it easy to resize every frame you need to rotoscope.
