PMJI here, but SGI certainly has it's act together, while CBM dosen't.
Yes it's true that software for an SGI is CONSIDERABLY more expensive
than Amiga apps, the prices of the stuff is falling fast. Last year,
a full blown version of Alias Power Animator cost over $50,000! You
can get an even better version now for around $20,000, and while
that's still too expensive for the average user, the point is that
prices for the stuff is falling fast. When you can by a base Indy
for under five grand, the application prices will follow suit. THey
have to, as the *low* end is catching up to the *high*, and we'll all
see a meeting of the two very soon. What CBM has to is adopt a RISC
based achitecture, and soon, if it wants to be able to run the type
of software that people will demand. The one thing about the Amiga
that always blows my mind is how awfull most of the software for it
is, while SGI stuff shines.
