Sorry, Larry, but in the real world of computers, a spec is not a
spec. Whether it's IDE, RS-232 or SCSI, lots of manufacturers
deviate and that's a known, not just an occasional occurence.
The proof of the pudding, of course, is Commodore's own reputed list
of "recommended" drives which lists, I am told, all of four
mechanisms.
