#R3/Win 3.1/Vibrant fails
I am unable to get 3DSr3 going under Windows 3.1:
I have installed pharlap.386, created a PIF, modified system.ini, all as
described on pp. 95-96 of the Installation Manual.
Running Windows Enhanced Mode, I click on the "3D" icon and get the message:
"Initializing Autodesk 3D Studio…"
But, then a red Vibrant full-screen panel pops up saying:
"Vibrant initialization error number 1300: VGA hardware checks failed."
I'm allowed to "press any key," the screen clears, and the single line:
"**** vdm_init mode 78 returned error 1300 ****" appears.
Pressing Enter I get:
"Specified display too small
Press any key to continue"
And I return to Windows.
I have initialized 3ds with "vibcfg" for my Video 7 VRAM II VGA card
(and everything runs fine under DOS, alone) to 1024x768x256 for all
displays except Materials Editor.
Now I _know_ my 14-inch "specified display" is too small, but I've
been quite unsuccessful in convincing my wife of that fact! <g>
