Dave, Excuse the delay in responding, but you inspired me. I went ahead and installed thge 3.1 ROMS I've had sitting here for the last month. Now I know why I was delaying it. These 3000's are sure great but their a pita to work on. Not only did I have to put up with the hassle of disassembling my machine, I also had to sweat out whether or not I was going to break pins I had to straighten out on the ROM chips. Expert sent me some badly mangled chips. Looks like they were quality checked by a kindergartener or something. Guess what. No problems here with 3.1. I had to set a 2 sec timeout on my boot drive, which worked perfectly before, to get it recognized at bootup but that's the only thing I ran into. My system now boots a little slower than before. The step from 1.x to 2.x is sure much greater than from 2.x to 3.x. I'm not altogether convinced it was worth the money and hassle. Your machine was definitely hardkicked. I'm not sur where your problem is coming from. Sound like it is some kind of memory thing. What happens when you run setpatch after WorkBench has loaded? If it works without SetPatch, it works and that's all that's important. You're not going to damage anything. -Richard
