Denise,
I just did a wedding yesterday in which we attended the rehersal on Friday
night. I don't usually attend rehersals, but the wedding planner suggested that
I do, so we did.
I asked if the church uses any wireless microphones and was told that they had
a wireless system, but that no microphones were going to be used during the
ceremony.
I also asked the priest if there were any restrictions on camea placement. He
told me no as long as we didn't stand in the middle of the aile.
Saturday, as I am setting up my wireless microphones, I turn on my first mike
and it feeds back through the churches sound system. The same person who told
me the night before that there would be no mikes used, tell me this afternoon
that she just turned on the system.
Luckly, I carry 7 different frequency mikes with me. Then the same person
noticed where I was setting up my camera and asked if I was allowed to set up
so close to the alter. I told her about my conversation with the priest the
night before. Nothing else came up about my placement.
But, then the photographer showed up who did not attend the rehersal and said
that our back camera was going to be in her shot. So my wife moved about 2
inches. Then the photographer ended up shooting from a completely different
angle, so that my wife could have stayed where she was.
You see, you're not alone. I think one of the reasons I keep raising my prices
is to sooth my nerves.
