Michael, The Personal V-Scope is a very nice basic combo scope. It's all I needed at the time I purchased it and still is great for quick spot checks of a suspect signal. If you own or plan on purchasing the TBC from the same company I would strongly suggest that you purchase the V-Scope as well since the same software will run it and up to 6 TBC's (I think). To address your specific questions; It is very reliable. I have been able to take mine for granted for the last 2 years. I wish I could say that about the equipment I got from Sony at the same time ! I am unsure about heat build-up. The unit comes with software for both IBM type computers as well as Amiga's, and uses a PC type slot for it's power supply, so it should work equally well in either type of machine. I have never had to use their tech support. And… The CPU/RAM load seems to be minimal though I'm unsure of any accurate numbers. Another nice item is a well made and quite easy to use remote unit which will run everything, costs about $300.00, and keeps you from having to switch back and forth from the switcher screen if you happen, like many of us here, to be using a Video Toaster for your switcher.
