To: all
here is something hopefully for the 3D-Studio record books. We are currently working on the "Bob Dylan Highway 61 Interactive" CD-ROM. We have recreated in 3d-studio 4 enviroments for the CD. They are all very realistic and are very in-dpeth. But 2 of the environments were pretty massive and I hope people out there that think that 3d-studio is just a toy, reconsider thier opions( that for all you mac people). One of these 2 was a recreation of the Supper Club where Bob performed. It had over 1,250,00 faces (yes thats over a million faces), pushed the 255 material limit, used around 120 meg. of rams, and only took 30 min. a frame to render. The secord major envoriment was a realistic recreation of Bleeker Street in Greenwich Village, NY. It originally started on the mac platfrom in the program Electric Image, but Electric Image couldnt handle the complexity and the need for instant changes, so we moved it to 3D-Studio, where we knew it would get done. This file had about 950 objects, 850 faces, used about 400 meg. of ram., and ram anywhere for 30 min. a frame to 3 1/2 hours. These were all rendered on 4 p-90's, 128 meg of ram. The whole project with all the enviroments, 4 3d artist using 3d-studio rel. 4, 8 2-d artist creating texture maps, took about 4 months to do. We hope that when the cd comes out you all will get a copy and enjoy the music, the videos, the images, and especially the quality of work 3d-studio can put out. In a couple of week I will try to post some of the images. Thanks for your time, and any qe\uestions please call me at Gregg Daly Graphix Zone 714-833-3838 ext. 135
