You are wrong, and I sometimes question the clear and present danger exception to the First Amendment, to begin with. However, the First Amendment leaves room for interpretation; the second does not. The reason is clearly stated, and the rule is clearly stated. NOTHING can be done to stop the guy next door from keeping and bearing even a Stinger missile. (now, I, being his neighbor am armed with a rifle; at the point at which I, his neighbor see him pointing his Stinger at a MacDonnel-Douglas jet, will shoot him; if he points it at a United Boeing jet, I'll prolly go watch it on the news <grin>). BTW, the assualt weapons ban does not stop him from owning an automatic rifle; $200 and 6 months paperwork, and you too can own a 50 caliber automatic rifle. And, unless you've spent $300 on a kevlar vest, the guy next door can kill you just as dead with a cap and ball colt.
