I'd love to get the cepia fix from Impulse, they won't reply. Re the texture axis prob: Here's a step by step of what I'm doing. Start in detail editor. #1. My object is the word "PLAID" (Font object extruded and faces added thru slice). #2. Make edges sharp. #3. Add plaid.itx #4. Color obj. (either red or yellow…I don't remember…whichever the texture does NOT have as a default) #5. Add Linear.itx. Change all guns to 0 except for transparency where all guns are 255. and modify z trans. legnth to 20% of object's legnth. #6. Modify texture axis. Rotate so that "Z" on the texture's axis points toward the "D" in the word plaid and move axis a little to the left of the "P" in plaid. #7. Exit atts. and test render. Screen should be empty (PLAID should be transparent). #8. Create state "DEFAULT" Check textures/brushes box. #9. Go to the attributes. Go to Linear.itx. Edit axis. Move axis (don't rotate) so that the axis is a little to the right of the "D" in plaid. Leave atts. #10. Test render. You should see the word "PLAID" #11. Create state "PLAID" Check textures/brushes box. #12. Save object as PLAID.IOB #13. In detail editor: use the Set To option in states to check both states. In each, (Default and Plaid) the linear.itx axis should be in the right place. #14. Go to stage. Set object, light etc. Check obj's Default state. Go to the attributes option in stage. At least in the Amiga version, you'll find that linear.itx is (In the DEFAULT state) on the right of the object. If you go back to the detail editor, start again and do it the other way (create state PLAID first and state DEFAULT second) State Plaid's linear.itx axis will be set to the left of the obj. #15. To double check that it's not the stage attributes section that's screwed up, go to action editor. Create 10 frame anim. Frame one: Set obj Plaid to state Default, Frame 2-10, set obj. Plaid to state Plaid. #16. Render. What should happen is that the object should be invisible to start with and slowly fade in as the axis moves across the obj.
