I worked in Ireland for about 3 months about 12 years ago doing geophysical exploration for massive sulfides. I worked in the area around Limerick, from Ballybunion to Tynagh and elsewhere nearby. I've enjoyed what little reading I've done on Irish geology but not had the opportunity to really study it. The toughest thing was working the standard US 60-hour field week (6 days * 10 hrs) with Irish crews who were limited by law (or triple-taxation on overtime wages) to 40 hours/week. We just used three crew members for 4 days each to cover the two crew positions. Hope things have changed some in the past decade. Although I'm Scottish-Welsh-English-German-Malay, I also have a little Irish blood in the mongrel mix <g>.
