Dear Richard As you know, I've had good luck with WPWin, particularly after some kind soul let me have a copy of the 6.0a patch. I had to use WinWord recently, which prompted me to port my macro to it, but I far prefer WPWin and use it in preference to any other product. That said, WinWord is a fine piece of work. It's very clean and coherent, and is very intuitive in the main. I am occassionally frustrated by its limitations as compared to WPWin, haven't really figured out how to set up a page yet (is the page set up in Headers it?), and can't for the life of me figure out how to place a horizontal line in a macro; that is, to have the macro draw the line. I have to agree, though; WinWord 6.0a seems rock solid. I think I have had one GPF with it since it first come out. Specifically, I did some extensive work (six weeks) on a 9mb document with dozens of graphics, and write all my macro .RTF help files (even the ones for WPWin) in WinWord. I don't think I would have dared attempt doing serious work on a 9mb file in WPWin, and WPWin just isn't as good at creating .RTF files. How's the macro language? The syntax is not the same as WPWin, but the principles are all the same. Their capabilities seem approximately equal, WPWin capable of placing horizontal and vertical lines in dialog boxes while WinWord can't, and WinWord capable of displaying graphics in dialog boxes from multiple sources barring .DLLs, while WPWin can only display graphics in dialog boxes from DLLs. But on balance, if you can create a macro in one, you can create a functionally identical one in the other. I am very fond of WPWin 6.0a; I think it is a great product, equal to WinWord 6.0a, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. I suspect WPWin 6.1 will be fabulous, will surpass WinWord, and that PerfectOffice will be a better buy than MS Office, although both will be terrific long term bets. I hope you like my WinWord macro. It is functionally superior to the current WPWin macro in the library (a 2.1 version as compared to a 2.0), although I personally am using a version of the WPWin macro (now a template) that will be numbered 2.5 or 3.0, it is so far advanced of the current version (multiple user definable defaults and choices; user-configurable address elements, etc; nice job, if I do say so myself<g>). The WPWin version will be uploaded shortly after the WPWin 6.1 release, with a functionally equivalent upgrade of the WinWord macro/template. I've changed their names so that they now have an individual product identity (in other, Product X 2.5 for WPWin, etc.), am revamping the help files, etc. I hope everything goes well with the WinWord experience. Having used it, I understand why some are zealots on its behalf, although I shall remain a zealot in my own corner.<g> <<I'm going to grab your DTS macro for Word.
