Accom drive help
You got only half of the stuff you need. The TCP/IP stack is just how
to communicate with the Accom. You still need a couple of programs to
actually do the talking. First thing you need is to convert the
Targas to YUV format. You can then either FTP (File Transfer
Protocol) the files over to the Accom or you could just use RSH
(Remote Shell) to transfer them. There is a variety of FTP software
for windows. They all work with Winsock which is what you got from
the WFW forum. I don't know of any public domain RSH software though.
You would be better off buying a commercial package if you intend
doing anything other than experimenting. There are several out there
offering all levels of support. Two come to mind for you: FPT
Software's OnNet and Netmanage's Chameleon for Windows. They both
provide all the tools to communicate with other Unix workstations
over TCP/IP.
I've written software that will do the YUV conversion. It's a BXP that
allows you to save YUV files directly from 3D Studio. From the video
post, you could write a simple script that transfers the files over
to the Acomm through RSH as they become available. All transparent
and simple (provided you understand the processes involved).
