There's a program called BackTalk that is usable on 1.3 that will allow you
to work CompuServe with reasonable efficiency.
It is possible to speed up the whole message-collecting process even with a
general purpose telecomms program. The trick is to set the following options:
Use menus: No
Stop mode: Never
Editor: Not the line editor (if you want to pour in input from
previously prepared canned text on disk).
This must be done within each Forum.
Set these options (I think you can do it by typing a single line that looks
like OP;UM NO;SM N;ED E;S .. but try this stuff in the Practice session). Then
command, say, READ NEW and capture everything to a file.
With most terminal programs, you could arrange to do most of this with a
script file, or on function keys.
Sending replies is tricker, and you might feel more at ease staying with the
line editor and sending those manually.
There's likely lots of support information around telling you how to do this,
but I'm not the best person to tell you exactly where to find it on CompuServe
(anyone?)
