Martin: YES! Exactly — the most challenging thing for me is to find something new or different to program that is not currently there. I never took advanced language courses in college, but I did take introductry courses in FORTRAN, PASCAL (2 semesters), COBOL, and BASIC. These are all high-level languages. I don't think C was around when I was in college, although I remember PL/1 was big as a mid-level language (before assembler). Back then, I owned a Radio Shack Color Computer (M-6809), and there was no way that anyone with average means could afford a home computer to program in PL/1 or C, so I always had to use the terminals on the mainframe at school, compile each edit, etc. I used the CoCo for Pascal programming, though! It was time-consuming, and I didn't have much time, as I worked full-time to help pay for college. If I could have programmed at home… things might have been different. I guess you could call programming my "minor". Now that I have more time off from work (I used to work 55+ hours a week until recently) I might be able to persue my programming interest, provided I find a project on which to work, because programming aimlessly doesn't work. I wrote a couple of very short ARexx programs a couple years ago that serve for me as a GUI "front end" for LHA. I use these to compress and decompress files without ever touching the keyboard (no annoying 'lha x Downloads:Diavol.lha') <g> I've been getting those ready for an upload here, because the thought occured to me that someone may be interested in a utility like that! (It took 2 years!) Of course, they'll be freeware <g> Talk later! — Dave
