Yeah lot's of us ex-Unisys types around. Last time I went out on a job interview, the guy mentioned the same thing. They were thinking of starting a club. Hard to completely blame the company though. The nature of the business has changed. When I started, a 6 meg mainframe filled a room. There's more power on my desk now. And they need fewer people to service them, at least from a hardware point of view. I once had this theory that Blumenthal (Burroughs CEO at the time) wanted to be the boss of the "first" computer company. The local fish & chips chain's place used to have this plaque on the wall proclaiming they'd bought some little place in England. This place was considered the "inventor" of fish&chips, so that made the chain the inventor. 🙂 By the same token, Sperry was the successor to Univac, which bought the old Eckert-Mochly (of Eniac fame) company. They were the first computer company, so I guess that made Unisys #1. On the other hand, it could be a load of dingo's kidneys.:D -jim MOS via Autopilot & Amiga
