After spending some time talking with the Daewoo people and the DPS people at Siggraph I finally found out one of the major differences between the MARS II board and the PVR: MARS II uses MPEG2 compression/file format and the PVR uses M-JPEG. This give the PVR a lower compression ratio but a slightly better quality image….also an M-JPEG animation is easily editted (with the right software) while it is more difficult to edit the MPEG2 data….but the MPEG2 file can be distributed and decoded via software, while the M-JPEG will need hardware decompression!
