Hi Marty, I can only give you an example of my network: 1 Pentium 90, 8 MB RAM, PCI 3Com netcard as Server 2 Pentium 90, 40 MB RAM, PCI 3Com netcard as network-renderer 1 Pentium 90, 40 MB RAM, PCI 3Com netcard as network-renderer and the PVR with doughter board. 1 Pentium 90, 64 MB Ram, ISA 3Com netcard as modelling and (net)renderer 2 other machines for the rest to do in my office… I run Windows for Workgroups! It is absolutly easy, cheap and it needs just one hour to configure the hole network incl. mounting the netcards. And I am not a big networker! 😉 One machine has to run the WfW and serve a drive. All other machines can see it, if you use the NET command of WfW in DOS. On the server are my materials and the finish TGA files. No problems with system speed. I read here in the forum, that the NT 3.5 as a simple workstation can be your server up to 10 machines. I will test in some weeks. (have to do some jobs before return to play with all that stuff) And the best tip is: READ THE 3DSNET.TXT FILE. You will find it in the standard directory of your 3DS or here in the library available. There you will find much answers to configure 3DS for netrendering. Wish it helps you a little bit.
