Lee,
You're right that most, if not all, of the speed gains will be eaten up by the
increased swapfile access. It MIGHT even be a little slower!
I think the question to ask yourself is, does it look like you'll be able to
increase the RAM any time soon if you get the P90? Anywhere from probably to
definitely, I think I'd go for it, and make getting more RAM a top priority. If
the chances are less than that, I'd think twice.
Remember, you won't be able to run MAX with only 16 megs, so if you're planning
to get MAX and know you won't be able to swing the extra RAM, sticking with the
486 for a while longer looks to be the wiser decision.
