Lofts can split!
Hi,
I've uploaded LEVIS.ZIP to the MAX Samples library to help spark your lofter
imagination. It's named LEVIS because it look kind of like a pair of blue-jeans
turned upside-down. MAX allows you to create lofts that seem to start as a
single shape and split into multiple shapes! The example starts as a single
circle at the bottom and then splits into two circles at the top.
MAX has the restriction that shapes on a path must contain the same number of
splines. LEVIS uses two 180 degree arcs attached as a single shape to form the
waist of the jeans and two circular N-Gons attached as a single shape to form
the legs.
I got more control over the loft by experimenting with the number of vertices
in the shapes and by breaking the N-Gons for the legs so they were open
splines.
I always felt that the 3DS Lofter was rarely used to its full potential and now
MAX has kicked the potential way up. Have fun Lofting.
Steven
P.S. Just for fun I threw on a couple of edit meshes and animated each leg.
