I know I have a crappy line, but when there is a problem with it, the TST light
of my modem starts to blink like crazy, or even gets off, until the connection
gets better, and then the TST light becomes steady again, and the connection
and data exchange continues.

It's THEIR problem. It worked MUCH better before.
