#Printing with TeX
Most users misunderstand. Learning TeX? What for? I wrote several big manuals
with TeX and still don't know most of the TeX basics. It simply doesn't make
sense to start learning TeX by reading the TeX books.
Most of my friends (and include me) spend most of the time getting the software
installed. Once installed, you simply start writing using LaTeX. Again… you
simply don't read a complete LaTeX manual. You rather use the samples in the
book as help… in most cases, LaTeX does everything for you automaticly. And
in case there are some problems, what are CIS and friends for? Actually, the
most complex text I ever wrote was my first TeX text. Funny? I wrote it in a
single afternoon. As said… I did complete manuals later…
To Joan: yep, it might be that your Kyocera doesn't work correctly. The driver
uses download fonts for printing in Laserjet mode. Sometimes non-HP printers
(and some old HP printers) do have problems with download fonts. Often they
refuse certain download fonts because of their format or lack of memory in the
printer. Some drivers allow you to define the max download buffer of the
printer. Try lowering the value. In this case the driver will print using
graphics mode instead of download fonts for larger fonts.
If nothing helps… print using the Workbench driver… but this surely is much
slower.
