No Difference. But I think I found the problem!!! Searching over hell & high
water, I found a 3' mega-thick SCSI cable at a MAC dealer. $35. I think its 28
AWG. I connected it, and lo and behold, the machine remained stable!
To really put it to the test, I switched my Battmem bits to enable Synchonous
SCSI transfers (a faster mode, but more prone to problems – with the old cable
the bus would lock in 5 minutes max) — and the system has been running over
several (intentional) boots & reboots, for the last 6 hrs purring like a
kitten!!! Well, it's back to Mac Warehouse with that 6' cable, unless someone's
interested….:^)
I won't pass judgement until I get a totally error-free system for a few days,
but things look good for now….
BTW, I never did install the terminating resistors on the drive.
Thanks again… maybe you should check the cable on your system!
