Steve: >do you get any difference with a cold boot (power off) vs a warm re-boot (3 >finger salute) ? No Difference. But I think I found the problem!!! Searching over hell & high water, I found a 3' mega-thick SCSI cable at a MAC dealer. $35. I think its 28 AWG. I connected it, and lo and behold, the machine remained stable! To really put it to the test, I switched my Battmem bits to enable Synchonous SCSI transfers (a faster mode, but more prone to problems – with the old cable the bus would lock in 5 minutes max) — and the system has been running over several (intentional) boots & reboots, for the last 6 hrs purring like a kitten!!! Well, it's back to Mac Warehouse with that 6' cable, unless someone's interested….:^) I won't pass judgement until I get a totally error-free system for a few days, but things look good for now…. BTW, I never did install the terminating resistors on the drive. Thanks again… maybe you should check the cable on your system! — Dave
