Alan- Unfortunately, I don't know how much I can help you, as you have a Toshiba and I have an Apple (Sony) drive, which is supported by the basic System 7.5 software. I expect you need a driver… except that you can access audio discs. How have you configured SS? Do you have the CD-ROM as a device disk? I doubt that, since that's supposed to give you data-only (audio?) access. What controller, ID number, etc, are you using, and is the SCSI chain terminated properly? I doubt this will help, but I was finally able to get SS to recognize my CD-ROM drive by dragging the System folder from my Disk Tools disk onto my SS partition and then Restarting. For whatever reason, voila! I could install System 7.5 from disc and then install the 7.5.1 update. But, since you don't have an Apple drive, and apparently have the OS installed already, this won't be of help I expect. <G> Mr. Zombie
