Why GIF?

GIF has been an extremely popular method of storing graphics for a long time.
It works for almost any computer. GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format –
available for all. Almost any of the Amiga file viewers will be able to
display GIF images. And there are a number of utilities in the graphics
utilities library that will convert from GIF to IFF, if that is what you need.
Those are not IBM files, incidentally – just graphic files in GIF format.
