Hi Tom,
<< Did you get your 8MB 2000PRO/X working with the ADI driver that comes with
the board?? I've asked our supporters to try this out specifically on an 8MB
board. >>
I tried it and it worked. But it was too slow. My older ATI Mach32 was faster
with the inline vibrant driver than the new ELSA winnerPro/X-8 with ADI.
<< There should be support for the board in the inline drivers in the future.
Exactly what form that will take is not yet certain. >>
I uploaded the new vibrant driver 1.0.8 C1 and I tried the generic S3-968
driver, but it didn't work. I always get the message that I haven't enough
memory on the card. Hmm … is 8 MB not enough ? <g>
Nevertheless I hope the generic driver will work in the next release. The
vibrant drivers 1.0.8 are still in beta-release as I can see. Do you know
whether in the final release this bug is fixed ?
The ELSA Gloria ist supported but not the Winner Pro/X . The "only" difference
is the GLINT chip. I mean it must be an "easy" job to adapt the driver for the
Pro/X too, because half of the job is done. I'm wrong ?
<< Do you use the board under NT as well? If you do, then how do you like it
for NT? Just curious. 🙂 >>
Under WindowsNT the card works excellent, no problems, brilliant display. I'm
happy that 3DS-MAX will work under NT , so I will have an good basis for my
work.
Sincerely,
Tom
