The Magic Sac will run about 90% of all the available Macintosh software.
Programs that directly access the Mac hardware (which is against the Mac OS
design rules) or that require the 128K Mac OS ROMs won't work. The
majority of major business programs (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word,
Pagemaker, Ready Set Go, MacWrite, MacPaint, etc.) all run perfectly. In
fact they run 20% faster than they would on a real Mac due to the STs
faster CPU clock speed (the same thing will apply to the Amiga version
though it's speed advantage will not be as large). They also have a large
work area than the Mac since the ST has a larger screen (640×400 in mono
vs. 512×348 on the Mac).
With additional hardware (a product called the Translator One) the ST can
read, write and format Macintosh diskettes. This removes any need to
transfer the files/programs from a Mac. The Amiga may be able to read Mac
disks directly though it will probably not be able to format or write to
them. (Since the Amiga version is not finished I can't say positively what
it will or will not be able to do with Mac disks.)
