Chris, >> It's almost as if there is a slight difference in the backgrounds of the >> odd and even fields. At normal playback speed, the background >> seems to flicker slightly (strobe). Frame rendered animations shouldn't flicker at all at any speed, whereas field-rendered animation will flicker as stills. There *should* be a difference between odd and even fields. I asked what you meant by "strobing," because frame-rendered animations with lots of movement (objects or camera) won't look as smooth as they would field-rendered. I guess I would call some frame-rendered stuff "jerky." I have a Targa+64, and used to have a Sanyo GVR-S950… I had some problems with the Sanyo… but if it has recorded good animation for you it shouldn't be the problem. I'm sure it has nothing to do with gamma. I would suggets checking out your field-rendering order in the 3ds.set file. Try reversing it, and do a quick test render with a simple fast moving object going across the screen. Try it with both field orders to see which looks better. >> BTW- how's the job search going? << Slow. I'm currently producing a large animation for a motion ride, and am finishing another cable TV commercial, but am still keeping an eye open for other work. Good luck on your search! Paul S.
