First, you had better verify that the CAD files you are about to receive are
indeed 3D files or you will have to budget the time to create the 3D model. For
animating your model the best software you can buy for your PC is 3D Studio.
3DS is currently at Release 4.0 which runs in DOS and then this winter 3DS MAX
will be released which will be released for NT only. For modelling, if you
need this feature, 3DS will do the trick but you may be better off using a CAD
package to more precisely and easily create your meshes. What CAD software are
you currently using? To go to video tape you have several options but 2 of the
most popular methods for those on a moderate budget are described in the files
PERFAQ.txt and PARFAQ.txt. Both are found in library #6 – Hardware.
