If they are having production problems or using limited facilities, it is quite possible that they are being produced in low volume and the embedded market is getting it all. I mean if I say made robot or milling machines and all my control code was in 68K family and I wanted to jump the jones, not just keep up it would be worth my time and money to put in a large bid, on a large volume of chips. Many people would argue that people are changing to the PPC chip, but if I had controller code that was written in the days of the 68000, chances are my base routines are tight and efficient. This would make an `060 quite fast, and I wouldn't have to worry about a sloppy port to the PPC. There are so many rushed ports and hacks and things that are thrown together, that it is just a matter of time before we get some very serious failure of the digital world.
