Actually, Microsoft has acquired far more *tiny* companies than large companies. It's cheaper and easier. I heard stories about their acquisition of one small company that made my skin crawl… they made it sound like the Microsoft rep knocked on the door, said either you sell out to us at this price, or we'll buy your competition and put you out of business. Of course, they *did* make the same offers to their competitors at the same time.
