In response to your list of concerns with LenzFX 2.0, I have one correction to
make. In your statement (numbered "4") about using Flare w/field rendering, [I
was also anxiously awaiting field capabilities], the Flare error you are seeing
is not reversed fields, but a miscalculation of the position of the
intermediate field.
I did extensive testing with a simple scene such as what you also did. I tried
reversing the order of the fields in 3DS and in PAR and it doesn't make a
difference. Flare is not correctly interpolating the intermediate position of
the "half frame".
To demonstrate, create a simple 3DS Keyframe file with a pole and an Omni lite
on top of it. Make it a 2 frame sequence–frame 0 and frame 1. At frame 0,
position your Camera so that the pole and light are at the left side of the
screen. At frame 1, move the target of the Camera so that the pole is now all
the way to the right side of the screen. Now apply a Flare to the omni light
and render your (super-long) 2 frame animation with fields on. At frame 0, you
will be able to see the pole flickering between the left and middle of your
screen–depicting the correct "half frame" position in the middle. But, what's
this?–the Flare on your omni light will be flickering between the left and
only 1/4 of the way to the right, lagging behind the pole. Voila, the secret
of the Flare-Field problem! But unfortunately not the answer. I hope they fix
this one in Version 2.01. I was expecting correctly working fields in 2.00.
