Possibly your drive problems stemming from having 2 different size drives i.e.
9 gig and a 2 gig (is that your config?). Since these would run at different
speed (at least they are probably rated differently) I could see that as being
a source of potential conflict since one drive would have to catch up to the
other after some effects instead of synching together for smooth A/B.
