The lightwave 'core' is already ported to the PC and other Win NT platforms (MIPS, Alpha). This is the ScreamerNet software. There is also work being done on the front end of Lightwave and on the Modeler programs to allow you run lightwave on these machines native, without having to use an Amiga to create models, scenes, etc. While the process seems to be taking longer than expected, I would expect to see the PC version out soon (check with NewTek for an official date, if any). In the mean time, if you decide to stick with LightWave, you may consider tying your amiga into a network with some NT machines, as a LOT of progress could be made in setting up and getting familiar with the PC's and the Network, and the resultant system could be used with ScreamerNet. Also, once the system was set up, you could quickly 'jump ship' to a PC rendering product without having to set up all the machines.
